All-

Question on my 1966 15 Window. I have to convert back the two cargo door windows to pop-outs as they were taken off and solid glass was in there.

The PO had the bus painted professionally including the inside of the window frames and hinges. Attaching the hinges I've read has been done by welding.

My concern of course is any hot-works sparking and marring the paint. I've heard that the 3M 8115 Panel Adhesive works too. And also wondered if JB Weld could work or screwing to frame (although that might make closing hard- I think).

Any input greatly appreciated.

-Mark

Opening and closing the popouts puts a lot of strain on the hinge. Especially with new seals. Not sure panel adhesive would stand up to the constant flex of using. And screws would stretch the holes sooner or later. Maybe a combo of body adhesive and countersunk screws would probably be strong enough. But welding would be best.

Here was my solution to a similar issue a few months ago, posted at the bottom of this thread:

I used 3M 5200 on the hinge to body side being careful to not over do it creating a mess and then used 3/16 pop rivets. They are solid as a Rock!
