Because I had the Rostra unit installed in a previous vehicle, I fear I discarded the hardware kit.

I just ordered a full kit 250-2214 for this installation.

Based upon discussion in this thread .......

About VW factory cruise kickdown I'm really weighing how to hook up.

The easy way is like VW did....... to the lever with the ball on the throttle body.

To get kickdown I need to hook to the accelerator rod from the transmission lever or to the lever itself.

Not happening today but I am having big thoughts.......

After my overwhelming headaches from the first install at the gas pedal, I am thinking of going stupid simple straight to the throttle body.

If this works,
Experiment ........ move the hookup at some point to a location that will enable kick down function.

My hardware package arrived but it is just stored in with the cruise control parts right now, so little time!

Anyway I'm pushing 3,500 miles on this rig since it went on the road a month or so ago.
I'm noticing that having the kickdown as part of the cruise cable pull isn't really going to be needed.

Sure there are hills that require kickdown but I find that I'm doing it manually, dropping it into 2nd and pulling the hill to the crest at about 4,000 rpm, just maintaining whatever speed 4,000 rpm can give me.

Using the kick down feature it upshifts, down shifts, upshifts, down shifts upshifts annoyingly.

Rare have been the times it downshifts automatically, upshifts at speed and it's done.

So this on the road experience tells me to not bother with making the kickdown function while on cruise control.

This knowledge will also make my installation much easier!
