Usually the carb is loose on the intake manifold. Vacuum leak.

Or the boots have cracks that open up with the engine temp change. Vacuum leak.

End casting are loose or have sucked part of a gasket. Vacuum leak.

I would go through the basic carb settings, along with a full tune up. The issue most likely be found during the tune up or a pathway will become ever present.

Start with a tune up and setting basics. If the basic settings cannot be used, you need to chase, why that is.

Good luck!

Ok, I said I have limited knowlwdge with 36 carbs.
But Dual ports are whole new beat to me.
I get carb may be loose on manifold.
But boots? What are boots?
No idea what "end castings" are? Nor what gaskets your refering to.
Basic carb setting? Hell I dont even know what carb this is?
Chase what?
In my book learning, carburetor in latin means do not touch...
Someone please be a bit more explicit...
Thanks

You said you have a DP 1600 motor. On that motor, the intake manifold is in three pieces: a center section, and two end castings the bolt to the heads. These two castings are joined to the center section with rubber boots and clamps.

X2. I repeat this advice often, but it's valid. A tune-up will often reveal what is broken, misadjusted, worn out... and if not, you have eliminated the easy/free stuff before you contemplate replacing expensive components.
