To resolve my oil leak on at the flywheel I plan on putting on Speedi Sleeve (redi sleeve). I watched a video on Youtube and got part number National 99235. However, this sleeve is to small in diameter to fit on the flywheel.

Anyone know what the correct part number is or size I should get for my flywheel?

1961 40hp 1200cc motor (6 volt).

This is the video I watched on Youtube.

Thanks

How much too small??

Redi or Speedi-sleeves are interference press fit and are supposed to be very tight.

Does your flywheel seal surface meet the sleeve size specs ?

Being a 40 Horse .... might be simpler to replace it. (more expensive though.)

From what I read you cannot buy a new flywheel.

Yes too small by 1/4 inch or maybe more. There is no way to put this one on.

I have the "B" stamped flywheel for the 40hp. I also have an "A" stamped one, but I could not get the correct endplay with the "A" stamped one.

I can send a pic if needed for clarification if needed.

Thanks.

Maybe I will try to get this A stamped flywheel to fit again. I don't have a seal groove in either of the flywheels, but when I slide the seal on the B stamped flywheel it feels tight initially and then it moves more freely as I slide it down on the flywheel. So I assume it is leaking past the seal - the flywheel is worn, at least that is what I can figure out.

If the surface is rough, polish it down.
You can polish it down .008" at least and the seal should still work fine.
Polishing it down is always a good idea, in either case, otherwise putting the sleeve on it would be too big.

No rust. I did find the correct part number National 99272. Ordered one and will pick it up today.
