oh well, i guess that's why they make industrial marking pens with black ink.

I picked up a couple this afternoon...

In small print, it says "1st Trader Joes/Pasadena CA, August 1967"

Is TJ a West Coast thing?

yes, trader joes first store was in pasadena, started out as pronto joes a mini mart and in 1967 then decided to become a specialty store, if i remember the story correctly. the company was sold sometime in the late 80's to a german family and is still privately owned. in 2000 tj's started to plot their takeover and made their way back east through arizona the midwest eventually opening stores in philly and new york. we now have 300 something stores (prolly more, i just done give a fuck to be honest) and have distribution centers in the midwest and east coast. im trashed and ill check my facts tomorrow...goodnite

They even have their own fan site ...

http://www.traderjoesfan.com/

Not bad for a company with estimated sales of $6.5 Billion dollars. That's a lot of insulated bags!
