the mufflers for vw split 1200cc (shape as original) are no longer reproduced ... how do you do, modify those of the beetle by plugging an outlet?
Grazie Giorgio

1200cc 30 BPH or 34 BPH?? Both are not easily interchangeable. Requires cutting and welding.

By "preheaters" guessing it is a fresh air heating system on your 34 BHP (40 HP SAE) engine. If so, not the stock engine which would be stale air heated till mid DEC62. Not that it really matters, just as long as it gets you down the road.

Except for VW did not ALWAYS make ALL changes at that point in the year. See entry in the upper right of the image below from the "Progressive Refinements" that was a VW dealer only manual on changes at the factory:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The exception to this was the bus only 1500 optional engine package that came right off in AUG62 with fresh air heating.

in europe sometimes they come out cheap as NOS, due to the very low requests for purchasing.
early 40hp (34ps for us) in addition of the muffler exit modification, requires also the adaptation of the lenght and diameter of the rear, #1 and #3 cylinders.
You wil need to fabricate a tube or weld a sleeve to the heat exchangers. Than slightly enlarge the hole in the lower cylinder control box.

This site is awesome, it answered the question about the difference between the small nut 3/4 ton and small nut 1 ton brake drums and axles I had. 5 silly millimeters.
