Hello all I have a question regarding the comfort bed for the sportsmobile poptop version.
How thick is the original matress in the top?
How does it work with the slide out bed for the full length of the bed? Normaly it is about 1.3meters and slide out it is about 1.9m.51" to 6foot3 in slide out position.
Where is the elongated matress stored when the bed is small?
where is the board that slides out when the bed is not expanded?
Pictures and informations are urgently apriciated Rolling Eyes Very Happy
Best regards Jochen

the matress (stapled to a board) stays up in the top. it is small/short. there was an extend piece that made it longer, and it could stay in the opening at the foot of the bed, reducing the available standing headroom of the bus. Or you could stick it anywhere when not in use.
check out the "sportsmobilers unite' thread for 17 pages of SMB stuff, like this brochure capture pic. shows kids up top using the single upper matress .

Thank you Alman72. So in actual fact there was no real place for the board when the long bed was not in use. The small matress was justvput on top of the other between the two metall bows that are lying on the bed when the topp is not lifted, right?
I know all the pictures but there is none either from the big bed nor from the board in the gallary.
Guys pleas if anybody could make pictures from the big top bed would be awsome.
Best regards Jochen

I have a ton of photos from my '72 Sportsmobile in the gallery, but am not sure if I had any of the penthouse bed per se. I have since sold the camper...

Oh, wait -- here's one:

I also was wondering where the extra bed piece "should" go. Back then, I think manufacturers were not so concerned with having loose objects in the camper. I just put mine in the back area over the engine compartment.

You might also post your question on a Sportsmobile forum site like this one:
