IRS or Swingaxle easiest conversion

I have a multiple part question here, I know that IRS is the better of the two rear suspensions on an offroad based VW. However I am not sure of the easiest way to convert to IRS, because I have two options. One is I was sold a rear torsion assembly out of a 71 Type 1, so i have the whole rear suspension plus the tunnel up to the parking brake. Herein lies my question. Which would be eaiser, cutting out the swingaxle torsion and welding this whole new rear suspension on the pan, or buying the pivots and hopefully getting the right angles as to not wear out the tires in no time. If the answer is just welding in the pivots, is there anyone in the Atlanta, Alpharetta, or Carrollton area that has a jig they would allow me to rent or buy? Or since Im going back to college at the end of August and cant take it with me, should i just throw in a Swingaxle and get riding before i have to go back to the Military College of the South (aka The Citadel)? Also the IRS suspension i have is the dual spring plate kind, is it true that only dual spring plate trailing arms will fit those plate or are they interchangeable?

I'm gonna make some assumptions here. i'm gonna assume you have a fiberglass pan buggy. Also, i am assuming your current transaxle is shot, which is why you are thinking about converting.
If you want to ride this summer, replace the swingaxle and drive. Cheapest and least time consuming.
Then do the conversion during the winter. It's not a tough job, but if you are a novice, it is intimidating.
