With my CDN '87, when I re-install the battery after hibernation, it's just a matter of advancing the hour set and when it passes 12 it turns to 13 and so on. Mine seems built in to be be a 24 hour clock. |

i thought you held both hour and minute at the same time and it switched. 99% sure that's how my mk2 GLI did it _________________

i was going to do the pad cut/solder routine, i prefer a 24 hour clock... but then i realized, in the Vanagon, time is unimportant. the only people worried about time want a 12 hour clock

That was what I thought as well but I just tried that several times and it is still on 12 hour time. (Although the adjuster buttons are finicky at best.)
Oh well, I do not feel like messing with the clock circuitry so I'll just live with it. _________________ Dave O

I was doing a search to see what remedies there might be for my digital clock dilemma -- two actually -- the main one is I can't set the time. I can neither advance the hours nor the minutes. (The other is the light is sometimes on and sometimes off at night independent of the rest of the dash lights which stay on.) I saw replacement screens but there is nothing wrong with my screen. Then, I came across this thread and was hoping for something helpful.
Oops. The closest thing to help I could find was this ...

It may be low tech, but disconnecting the battery, and then reconnecting at Midnight might be my only solution. (It's in 24-hour mode, but that's fine by me.)
That leads me to another question. Do the battery kill switches (or whatever they're called) that discourages theft kill all current including the current that runs the digital clock? _________________ Now: 2003 New Beetle Turbo S / 1990 Single Cab Transporter / 2014 Tiguan R-Line 4motion / 2013 Tiguan S / 2002 Golf GLS TDI

If you reset it at noon you will be 12+hours ahead of everyone else. If you create your own time zone you are never late.
Eastman Kodak actually had their own calendar up until 1980 because the wanker accountant couldn’t deal with the fact the two months a year there were three pay periods _________________ .ssS! |

The below link talks about this and it seems to require removing the clock, cut some wires, etc. Someone also mention installing a switch to the clock's wiring allowing you to switch back and for between 12 and 24
