This is among the most annoying feeling I've experienced yet. It's like wearing a triple condom.

Its masterseries silver. I tried acetone. Nope.

Aside from peeling the too layer of skin off my hands, what will take it off?

Thanks

Note the first warning listed about a third way down: http://www.masterseriescoatings.com/tipsheet.html

Sounds like time and scrubbing is likely the solution, hope you like having silver hands.

It looks like it's starting to fracture. I think time is the only option right now.

I think it feels so terrible because its drawing the moisture out of my skin. Lesson learned.

If you live to be very old you’ll be doing good with all the chemical exposures.

That’s an aromatic polyisocyanate.

Translation, nasty shit.

Don’t do that. Seriously.

Yes.....master series is a urthane paint. Its magic is that it absorbs moisture and oxygen to crosslink. It steals it from the rust wherever it encounters it.....and it has a high loading of aluminum which is an astringent that helps to dehumidify left over moisture.

Yep....not good for you but a single coating like thst is not going to kill you.

Outside of certain EXACT uses.....acetone is one of the most worthless solvents. This paint is NOT an epoxy......if it were....acetone would work well.

You need a solvent that is non-polar......a solvent that is not co-solvent with water. This means that acetone and the vast majority of alcohols will not be useful.

You can use laquer thinner or MEK. There are others.....but these are easy to get. They will dry your skin. But thats fixable.

Wet a rag with MEK or laquer thinner and soak your hand for about a minute. Wipe off the paint with another rag,wet with solvent. Wear gloves on the hand you are cleaning with or it will just transfer from the rag to your other hand. Ray

Wink I already tried that sort of. I used 220 grit. Its helped some but not enough. Wasnt even painful.

I could always use the torch Shocked

Also, raygreenwood, would you happen to know of a specific solvent with non polar bonds? Theres some on the concrete I need to remove. As well as my shoes lol.

Please don't soak your hand in a solvent. Solvents will be absorbed through your skin and could be harmful to your organs such as your liver and kidneys. Look up the Safety Data Sheets for any solvent before exposing yourself to it. Using a solvent may only make a bad situation worse.

I don't want to know the damage I did handling photographic chemicals with my bare hands for years. Berryman's B-12 and Chem-Dip were probably not a good idea, either...

Its not a real issue with the two solvents I mentioned. Through the hand....you would need to soak for quite a while. This will take minutes at most. Also MEK flashes off in seconds.

I just did the entire front end of my car in this paint back in the fall. I have good experience with it Laughing
Also I probably work with more chemicals and have and do more haz-mat training than about 99% of the people in thee forums.

Factually MEK is less of a risk than Lacquer thinner....because lacquer thinner is a blend and is more toxic...but it takes more applications of MEK because it flashes off much faster.

So basically use paper towels, wet with MEK....wipe as much as you can and you will notice that at some point you are just spreading it around. Discard towel and start again Your hand will be dry in seconds between each wipe.

When you get it down to lightly stained skin.....use a fingernail brush or scotch brite and dishwashing soap.

The most toxic thing that you could use...that works partially....is methanol or denatured alcohol. Because of its polarity and affinity for water...it soaks right into skin and is very toxic.

Yes...decades of photochemical usage for me...and still. I was lucky ....I was pretty damn careful early on in darkrooms and in labs. But 35+ years in printing plants.....damn. I have no illusions of what may be coming.

Now....Chem dip....keep your damn hands out of that! That used to be...mainly methylene chloride....very f*cking bad for you.

Berrymans chemtool....yes...guilty here as well. Its a bit better for you than lacquer thinner...but is still a nasty blend. Great product though!

I also used Lava brand bar soap that was gritty and worked well with a nail brush.

I wouldn’t get this shit on my hands.

This is even worse, of course nobody told us so we washed our hands in it. This was before workers rights concerning chemicals.
