My clutch hose to the slave cylinder is shot and nobody nearby even lists it. I noticed that the front brake hose looks very similar but a bit longer. Are the fitting sizes different? Seems to me I read that the clutch line is different diameter than brake lines? Can I use a brake hose instead of clutch hose for that purpose?

GoWesty has a braided line from the slave cylinder to the hard line (I bought the syncro version):

I'm hoping that someone chimes in about the steel section as I have that question too. It does look a bit bigger than brake line. I need to replace mine but I haven't really investigated it yet. It may be that bulk line, ends and a bubble flare tool are the only way to get it done. |

Local dealer had a flex line that does away with the steel section. Why they opted for a non standard line for that section is a mystery, considering the rest of the line is standard, or looks to me like it is. |

It was a VW dealer that had the flex line - or auto parts dealer? |

Watch the connection from the hard line go the flex (clear) line. Mine was rusted frozen and I ended up having to cut it. |
