Hey guys I need some help. I have been having a problem with my 83 squeeling on left hand turns. It goes away with breaking and only starts when it heats up. So I tried a shotgun approach because it's and old vehicle and needs some love anyways. I replaced the front wheel bearings, rotors, calipers, and break pads on both sides. The problem has persisted. In addition to the squeeling on left turns I am getting a whisle right when I hit the brakes and right when I let off the break. I can lightly pump the brakes and make it sound like a bird chirping.i have bled the brakes multiple times and get no change. And ideas??

How old are the flex hoses? They can swell up internally and create some hard to pin point noises and problems.

Didn't notice them in your shopping list. There is an early and late outer wheel bearing. They are slightly different dimensions.

How about a picture of your calipers from the pad insert end? It sounds like you have narrowed the sound to wheel bearings or pads. Any wheel weights on the inside contacting the suspension?

no power steering. I ordered the early bearings from bus depot. the wheel weights look good. it sounds like it coming from the driver side. I would think if it were the driver side bearing it would make more noise when turning right? is it physically possible to mix up the right and left calipers? I can take pictures when I get home

If the hand brake is working, you could remove the pads and drive the van using the hand brake to see if the noise is still present. Stock rims and tires? Had a van in the shop with some steel 16's, I was surprised how close the tire sidewall was to the upper balljoint.

Since the noise was present prior to all the work. Maybe the noise is something like the speedo cable or counter box. Process of elimination.

I do have 16inch wheels but clearance looks good
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I'm using a GPS speedo so maybe I will pull off the speedo cable.

Look where the inner tire sidewall passes the upper ball joint. Check the inner wheel weights too. Make sure the dust shield isn’t distorted and rubbing the disc.
