The knob-like things with a nail through the middle. Typically used to support shelves.
1) What's the right name for them?
2) Are they available anywhere?
3) If the answer to 2 is no, suggested alternatives? _________________ Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't change. |

i have found them to be worthless, the go missing easily, i have taken to using the same things that you'll find in your kitchen, holding the shelves up.
not sure what they a called either.
i have a strip of aluminum drilled with the correct size holes at different levels, so i can get all 4 at the same height.
they work well for me, and are very easily replaceable. _________________ markswagen {mobile mechanic} san diego area all early VW's cared for.

That certainly suggests some possibilities but the links are all as a dead as last week's halibut.
It sounds as though the only hope is to salvage them from a parts Westy.
ADDED: Angle brackets are a common solution to supporting a shelf. Unfortunately, the choice to use a really clever, and virtually irreplaceable thing instead. Grrr... _________________ Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't change. |

2 1/2" diameter is a trifle large, but a lot closer than anything else. If I come up empty with chair glides, this is Plan B.
Thanks for finding this one, and passing it along. :) _________________ Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't change. |

They also use them on premade sections of laminate countertops sold at big box stores to protect the edge of the counter.
Got a counter for the garage, and harvested them _________________ 89' Westy Subaru 2.2 |

You can use little hollow aluminum spacers from the hardware store, with a screw through the middle. |

I have a very few spares. Curious if 3D printing them would be worthwhile? FWIW they have always worked great for me, if the hole becomes enlarged in the cabinet a touch of flexible epoxy and better than new.
If someone were desperate I could turn a few in aluminium, stainless, brass or delrin, you know for the discerning owner. _________________ Schau in das Buch |

Jeffery what color of Ti would you prefer? Perhaps a nice swirl or a heatreated theme. Of course available in a variety of alloys. Bespoke in your personally trademarked pattern, please supply sample. _________________ Schau in das Buch |

If it's not being too grabby, 8, please. These things have a habit of dropping into places where they'll never be seen again. Grrr... _________________ Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't change. |

Darn close, but not in brown. Call me picky but "cherry" just isn't happening with the grey interior. Also, it seems that there's no assurance about all pieces have the same color for the order. Odd... Or very British. (Listing is from the UK)
Yeah, 3D printing in "pretty close to right" brown strikes me as a winner. I guess the overall shape is printed, and drilled afterwards. Something of a niche item (!) but still worth considering. Another, now NLA, item that could be a winner is beige screw caps for trim. Grey caps seem to be around (I bought out a VW dealer's inventory in a bad case of hoarding), but beige? Nah. _________________ Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't change. |

If you don't have a printer, I'm sure Uniwerks would print them up for you if you asked nicely. _________________ '85 Westy full camper, Subaru 2.5L, 5 speed SubiGears + 5speedbus shifter kit |
