My buddy is working on a 72 vert, changing lower ball joints. When the passenger side lower trailing arm was removed it had to be smacked with a hammer. Once out he saw the leaf bundle is not centered in the beam tube, its looks like something is wedged in on back side pushing leafs forward to the point they touch the inside of the beam tube. We check the beam for a bend or curve but it's straight, tried looking into tube and only see the bushing/bearing in there and it's in one piece, nothing else in there. When it came time to put the trailing arm back in it was an absolute B trying to get leafs to line up and we had them zip tied. Today he pulled the drivers side lower arm and it's the same way, leafs pushed to the front Tried to get it back on and there is just no way its gonna go. This is all original stock stuff, the passenger side lower ball joint shaft was about to pull out of the socked and the shocks were SEARS brand LOL!!! Old stuff............... Anyway, has anyone every had such an issue??? We tried loosening the center grub screw with no change........... _________________ Hoockd on fonicks werkt for mee?

I know you've done one side already but tbh I think it's work pulling the bars all the way out to check they are straight. |

They sure look bent I can tell you that! I will report back with what is found once we pull them out. That was or plan but had to have owner of car come see what we are dealing with before digging deeper. Should know later tonight or tomorrow. I'm thinking they are cracked in the center and wedged tight in the center where grub screw is. _________________ Hoockd on fonicks werkt for mee?

if the beam is taken out and the bearing removed they can be straightened with a press. though a new one or a straight second hand one may be easier.
When it is apart, look at and measure the frame head on the pan as sometimes these get a bit bent when the beam is bent.
good luck |
