Hello there, I'm about to finish my project after about five years of restoration and have now stumbled upon one of the trickier things to figure out.
Being a 67 it's known for many OYO features, many of which have been easily solved, much thanks to being shared with the buses, but when it comes to the pickup specific parts it gets somewhat harder, but still the aftermarket is generous in all of the alternatives offered.
But when trying to solve the issue that I don't have a correct 67- treasure chest door, and missing some of the hardware associated with it, I finally feel that a shout out to you guys could be worth the effort.
I'm restoring and modifying a baywindow door, since a 67 correct door isn't very easy to find. The baywindow door I'm using was the one mounted prior to the restoration during it's rattier days and since I already had it on hand a quite extensive repair still seemed reasonable despite the effort.
I've tracked down a correct 67 lock mechanism in my own parts bin (it's been there all along without me knowing of it's existence) and since the pieces slowly are falling into place for an original look, I've decided to go with the 67-style lock.
First question: Even though I could figure out a rough location for the striker plate, I'd really like to have some reference measurements and/or pictures for this. Been searching all over for good detailed pictures, but was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction, or perhaps take some pictures of these details on their ride for me? The floor I bought from KF seems to be for the older models with a hole in which the lock mechanism engages. This is despite specifically ordering a 67 model year floor pan. But this wasn't figured out until recently and the floor is since long ago firmly installed, so modifying in situ is the way to go now.
Second question, I have the correct lock mechanism but I'm unsure whether or not additional hardware is required other than the lock barrel cover and associated seal? An exploded view of the treasure chest door for a 67 is really what I'm hoping for here. My main concern is if the lock cover just clips into place in the sheet metal or if it's attached by some other means?
Other than that I think I've got every thing together concerning the treasure chest door. The aim is to make a year model specific correct look from the outside without necessarily being all original to the car.
Thanks in advance for any help in enlightening me on the subject.
