While I was troubleshooting another electrical problem I decided to try to trace all the wires going to nothing from previous PO wiring additions. I have often wondered what the purpose was of an od school toggle switch mounted in the dash next to the headlight knob.
One wire has an inline fuse holder. The other wire is lighter guage and they connect to the toggle switch. If you follow the wires they disappear at the bottom of the nse f the bus.
Crawling under the bus I follewed them back to the passenger side of the bus and entering the engine compat. I need a second body to confrm that I found the right wires in the engine compartment, but it appears they have female connectors and are connected to nothing.
Any thoughts on what would have been installed in the engine compartment that you would turn off and on manually with a toggle switch?
Any possible reason to leave them in place or should I just pull them? _________________ 1974 Westfalia Deluxe Campmobiles - Lake Stevens, WA |

Maybe. Who knows? When I got it there was no heater booster fan at all. I bought one and installed it. There was a booster fan wiring bundle in the engine bay already. But maybe they had Frankensteined some sort of fan of their own. _________________ 1974 Westfalia Deluxe Campmobiles - Lake Stevens, WA |

I burned up the ignition switch on my '74 about twenty years ago. The only stock style replacement switch I could locate at the time was close to $300 IIRC. I installed a switch on the dash instead.
As mentioned it could also be an anti-theft device. |
