Great idea:) I'll take one with the diagnostic + tuning. I have a few spare ECUs that I can check for compatibility. If I have more than one "D" model, I will sell it to someone who wants this mod. |

Only waiting for Bluetooth modules to arrive
Will start assembly soon. Processor and memory are Automotive grade to ensure reliable long term operation. I will be testing the immobilizer feature works properly in the Vanagon application over the next few days. This feature can be turned off if desired. _________________ _________________

Hi, you have been added to the list (You are # 17 on the list). I'm 3 hours North of you - I'm only testing the new Immobilizer feature all the other features have been well tested. Thanks for the offer much appreciated. _________________ _________________

Teaser screen shot of real life data from today coming home from camping - GPS speed is in km/hr
ECT = Engine coolant temperature
IAT = Intake air temperature
IDC = Injector duty cycle
Do people prefer AFM (air flow meter) or AFS (air flow sensor) for the label?
Edit: and do people want deg F for ECT and IAT? I guess I can include both and people can choose what they want when they set up ALDLdroid. _________________ _________________

I'd prefer AFM myself. _________________ 1990 Vanagon Westfalia |

Ok, changes are done. Also, ALDLdroid has a setting to change GPS units so they can be switched to MPH as well.
Edit: Immobilizer now tested and working - no wiring changes required with this option:
* disables the hall sensor in code so no fuel pump or injector firing
* the 2 second fuel pump prime is still there which is good _________________ _________________

I just re-read this so I want to point out a few things.
1) First, the ignition has to be on to power the unit so you can connect to it because it is powered by the chip socket power.
2) "Remotely" is limited by the range of the Bluetooth module, which really isn't too far. You can walk around the Van while it is running but you can't be too far away
3) to set the immobilizer feature, you have to be connected to the Emulator, so either ignition on, or idling. If idling, when you enable the immobilizer code, the engine will shut off. The immobilizer feature can be set so you have to manually disable it, or disable on Bluetooth re-connect. To get the engine back running, turn on the ignition and connect to the Bluetooth module if set to disable on Bluetooth re-connect (doesn't have to be ALDLdroid) can be a serial program. Or turn on ignition, start up ALDLdroid and press the "disable immobilizer button", and start engine.
4) the Bluetooth pin is settable so someone can't mess with the Emulator without the correct pairing code _________________ _________________

Well, I had my first breakdown today on the way camping. Pulled off the highway and the van stalled and wouldn't start. Connected my phone and saw this:
Went back and pulled the plug to the ECT connector and applied some contact cleaner, turned on the ignition and it started. Bad ECT connection caused the engine to stall.
All good now. Less than 15 minutes to running again. Most of the time was getting into the engine compartment. Never going anywhere in the van without my phone!
When I get home, I'm going to try and simulate this situation. I don't know how the bad ECT sensor can cause a fuel pulse width that large??? I know it isn't the ECU or emulator at fault, because the first thing I did was swap the ECU. Who knows, maybe the weird set of conditions created it??? I will try and find out. _________________ _________________

Still waiting for the Bluetooth modules to be delivered - they are taking forever. Seem to be lost in neverland. Tracking hasn't been updated for almost 2 weeks! As soon as I get them, they will start to move out the door. _________________ _________________

Very cool.
Are you guys open sourcing it or starting a business around it?
I'm running digijet, thinking about hacking it up to my ecu so if it's all closed I doubt I can do anything with it. _________________ Life is short and the road is long so if you want to see it all you have to drive fast! |
