I have been searching for US spec headlight buckets for a Jan 55 with no luck. Do I give up and restore these 56 buckets? Why are the US spec impossible to find. _________________ 1955 TYPE 1 Under Construction

I don't know about '55 but this is what the headlights look like in my '54:
This is different from later ones.

What do you think a very good set of 06-54 US spec headlights would be worth? |

Do you have a set? PM me.
It would depend highly on condition.
Rust, overall condition, whether they have the correct lenses and the condition of the lenses, etc.
The lenses are a lot harder to find than the buckets.
I looked at the classifieds and there was a decent single bucket on here this year for $130 and it looks like it sold.
No lens, bucket only.
A matched pair in great condition would be a lot more.
Lenses are available repro here

They are ok repros but a little crude on the logos, I've seen them in person. _________________ How to Post Photos

Here are some pictures that I just posted to the gallery. As you can see they are in VG condition with very little rust. I am missing a few of the small copper screws and I do not know the condition of the bulbs. I could test them if needed.

Those look like the original Tung-Sol sealed beams as well.
The solder breaks down over time on these old bulbs--I would resolder the lugs.
The missing lugs can be harvested from any sealed beam bulb and the missing screws can come from any pre-'66 parking light socket. _________________ Thanks,

Everett pointed out to me that these may not be the original lenses because they are E 1.0671.01 lenses. I do have the one with the oval in the middle but they are not as nice. |
