|
|
I'm very happy with the warm light of the incandescent bulb on the hatch, but my lamp fixture is a loose fit and the lens cover keeps falling off.
So looking for a replacement and just wanted to see what ideas have used for a replacement.
edit: Rear hatch light for me is this one,

Yeah, I don't have a hatch light. Wish I did. _________________ '84 Transporter 16" CLK's/LED's/ AT's/Mansi injectors

I added an OEM style one in mine. Love it! Guess I'm not the only one.

OEM style, wired to the rear window defroster wires and switch. Deleted defrost wire function. _________________ what a long strange trip it's been |

That's a nice add on, indeed. _________________ '90 Westy / automatic.

Great idea! I never use defrost. Plus I pulled my panel off a while ago, repkacing soon,, so thanks for thinking for me! _________________ '84 Transporter 16" CLK's/LED's/ AT's/Mansi injectors

That's definitely a non-stock light installation. I would look for a more modern upgrade that can cover the hole that was made. You could also silicone the cover on with two dots that could be pried off later when the bulb goes out.

Well, that's some fancy rig ya got there with that rear hatch light!
I've never seen a rear hatch light in a Vanagon.
Must be a limited time high dollar option package!
Question, is it mercury switch activated or a manual on and off only system?

Old fashioned on/off switch. Prefer not to have "automatic" function on it. _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Here's what I did. Lights and switch from superbrightleds.com. I had a clean slate with my hatch so I went with a wider installation. Three way SPDT switch is connected to the the door circuit so it can turn on that way, by itself or be turned off.
