So, I am finally starting to work on the interior of our 76 Westy! Cutting out a replacement kick panel for the driver's side, and looking for " anything" out of place, and sure enough I see what I think is the cable actuated by the red tip lever on the left of the heater controls just " dangling". Anybody have any pics of how this should be connected to the plate attached to the damper ( has 3 holes for "something). I believe this is supposed to control a flapper that directs heat to defroster, or to the floor of the front of the cab. I am guessing that something is missing, but can't find help in the Bentley or Haynes. Help, please! Thanks, Bob

You need to straighten the cable and come up with either the original clip to hold the sheath in place or figure out a reasonable alternative to it.

Thanks Busdaddy! I found this clip in a corner of a cabinet under the sink months ago, and just put it in my " parts to be installed" box...well, one of several boxes. It may be what i am looking for, if not the exact part, can modify it to work.

So, I made a clip out of it. Drilled a hole thru the clip and the bracket, used the dremel cut off wheel to make the clip the right size, straightened the cable, lubricated, and about 2 hours later it actually works!
