That bus is rad. It appears very original. I can't imagine you would have a hard time selling it. Assuming underneath isn't super rusty. _________________ 1970 Bus |

I'd drive the absolute wheels off of a Bay panel if I could find one for a good deal.
I can hardly think of a handier vehicle to own, but I am a big DIY guy.
That one is awesome, if it's not rusted out underneath. _________________ -Ian

Agreed, it is a cool bus and would be a handy utility van. Imagine that, iyou would almost imagine it was meant for that.
Working on getting it, but the owner is taking a bit of time to separate the (flat) tire kickers from the real offers. It is about 300 miles away in the middle of nowhere and will cost about $800 just to recover to civilization and be ready to ship, so there are a few considerations.

For what it’s worth, I bough this 69 Panel from New Jersey and trailered it back home to Arkansas last July.
Of course it’s riddled with rust and is taking longer than I want to fix up. I paid $3k not factoring in travel/fuel expenses.
As she sits today.
Panels are super cool. And rare. But most people (non VW nuts) are going to look at it as an incomplete bus. (No rear seats, not a camper, no headliner, windows, etc…) They view this as something boring. And basic. Which they are, they’re made for work. And with hard loads, weather, tough owners, and the Chicken Tax, there isn’t many to choose from here State side.
Bay Panels should be expensive based upon availability, but that isn’t the case. I don’t think I’ve seen a bay panel sell for more than $20k. My opinion, they should be Westfalia prices, and maybe if we’re lucky one day they will.
That red Panel looks like a score. _________________ The Bus Barn Ltd. Co.

I agree with you, the panels and pick ups and such are cool and arguably under valued. For the non camping crowd there are some very cool options!

However, other than the fact that they would stick out in today’s landscape, they would be a much better “stealth” camper. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

X2 on the stealth camper... I have a partial early bay era Westy interior inside mine... minus the table and chair behind the driver seat due to having dual sliding doors. I don't miss all the windows one bit. _________________ 1969 Panel
