I'm relatively inexperienced from a mechanical standpoint, so bear with my explanation. My 1968 VW Ghia has developed a very significant shake/rattle when accelerating from a stop in first gear. As soon as I shift to second gear, it stops shaking, and all other gears and driving speeds are fine. If I start from a stop in second gear, there is no shake/rattle. This shake/rattle can be felt throughout the entire vehicle, and it's not like "hmm something is clicking back there" kind of thing. It's an audible rattle that carries a significant shake/vibration throughout the entire vehicle. Can anyone point me in the direction of what the cause of this may be? |

Excellent, thank you for the link. I was already leaning towards that it may be a bowden tube issue, as I had an issue with it the bowden tube when I first purchased the vehicle approx 10 years ago. That will be one of the things I check out, thanks for the reply |

Might be a broken motor mount. Put a jack under trans and slowly apply pressure (don't lift the car) and watch motor mounts. |
