Building an all new 2276 motor and can’t decide what exhaust to use..
Thoughts and opinions on the best exhaust for a built motor? Will be on a dune buggy open motor so nothing out of the question for fitment. Thanks.

If I had a custom build I'd buy one of these https://02dea01.netsolstores.com/sideexitexhaust.aspx

BTW Car Craft VW is JET HOT, which is one of the better well known ceramic coating shops around.

$219 for a Jet Hot coated exhaust is a steal, it cost that much just to have one coated by them.

2276, as in a 96mm bore x 78mm stroke T4? That’s a very nice engine. What heads? Cam? Exhaust valve size?

Agree...

I like A-1 as well, I just didn’t want to recommend the sidewinder if he was going off-road and would be throwing mud/sand up against the muffler.

Looks like a street car.

On Monday I ordered a 1-1/2" sidewinder in all stainless for a 1776 i'm building. Well made and last forever.

Here's a 1-5/8" on a 2017 going in a Bus.

Since it's a buggy, take a look at A-1's new Class 11 off road exhaust. Call Tiger and have him text you a picture. Or, if you subscribe to Hot VW's, a couple issues back they did a feature on how to build a Class 11 and there were a few pictures of that exhaust.

Why does no one like this exhaust? Is it a performance thing, heat thing, or look thing? I kinda like it.

Poor performance with no scavenging affect like a merged header has. Also tend to be loud under acceleration, especially if you are the person driving behind it after the packing blows out of the mufflers

I love dual canons for buggies, Baja’s and some kit cars. Yes, they are loud. I know people wine about the HP difference. I’m sure it t hardly felt in the seat of the pants. Maybe you can let us know.

The 4 separate pipe systems sound like two harleys.
I made one pass with dual cannons in my old drag buggy. Can’t remember the time. It was a 1641 that went 14’s in a stock trans bug. I threw it in the buggy and used the dual cannons I had laying around. But we broke down on the way to June Bug and got there late. I just remember a small wheelie and being lined against some crazy fwd vw.
