hell yes, i'm old. but the flow of information and innovation is good. newbies come, their van has died and they know not what to do. not-so-newbies step in and help. old dogs sit back and wait for the scraps. it's a cycle of birth 'til death.
take a breather when you need to. offer some wisdom when it feels right or the alcohol level is sufficient. we're all in this together.

I'm still here but I spend more time in the Off Topic area than the Vanagon forum.
I still use my Syncro but I don't have much time for cool mods or anything these days.
I do like to see posts from the long time members and hope most of them stick around!

Old timer?is being a samba member since 2003 considered old? I remember being on the gerry list while i was in culinary school in 99. I dont post as much any more but still lurking. I bought one of derek drews last NOS viscous couplings in 2002. I remember Bullys website on how to use expand a foam (dont do this) in all the empty cavities of buses to make them quiet and warmer circa 1999 ish. Gowesty was a mail in catalog. Busdepot used to honk on their website and took 3 weeks to ship (maybe still do  ) vancafe was still owned by Peter and called vanagon cafe Oh the early days of the internet. I even bought a full syncro westy for $3500 and thought is was expensive in 2001. |

Like a good Soap Opera... you can go away for years then come back and pick up the story line in just a couple of episodes.
On Gerry for years then moved over here - a pretty dull guy with just a stock Westy that doesn't need much (or at least doesn't get much). |
