I have what I believe is an original, complete 1973 Thing engine assembly that I picked up. It came with a Solex 34PICT-3 carb and a 009 Distributor. Everything seems exactly like it should including '73 only tins and stamps on the shroud.

Did the 1973 Things (in the USA) come with 009 dizzys?

The 009 was never on a VW vehicle from the factory, it's aftermarket only.

They came with a 113-905-205AN which has both vacuum advance and vacuum retard along with mechanical advance.

Thanks Glenn and tasb,

I have one of those from another AM block I picked up. The vacuum advance is shot though. I think both you guys rebuild dizzys. Shoot me a pm on a price. I'm trying to go back to stock.

Thanks, Bill
