Hütti - The Wizard of Metal Patching!
It's so much fun to watch how you are progressing! Keep posting the great work!
I bet this bus is giggling every time it gets a new patch. And with every new patch the giggling gets louder! But be aware - eventually it will have an outburst of laughing out loud when the last patch is completed!
One day we will have to meet and have a couple of beers together

I love waking up to your progress.
Beautiful work and loads of lessons for all of us. Thank you for taking to time to document all of this as pics and annotation slows down your progress. Therefore very grateful. _________________ American Red Cross Safe And Well:

I love those little clamps, what are they called?
I understand when butt welding is needed but how do you know when spot welding is used/needed as per original assembly? Is it just by a visual inspection? _________________ American Red Cross Safe And Well:

Actually this must be one of the most repaired and most hated areas on buses. The design of that spot is stupid and awkward.
It clearly goes to show the very, very early efforts of the original '49 prototypes, and early production barndoor buses, where you can literally see how they added another reinforcement piece, when some area proved not to be strong enough.
Much of this design is of course owed to the industrial manufacturing process using spot welding on overlapping parts. There is very little torch welding even on early buses.
But I can't help wondering how they kept that cobbled together area mostly the same for 17 years....that is hilarious. No wonder Mr Nordhoff was keen on finally releasing the T2 transporter generation in 1967.
I love all these odd details on the T1 though. _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

Uli, let's not hijack Christians supercool DLX thread. He is really rocking this bus! ( I will post in my own thread if any major achievements are made).

very good Explanation of that corner!
for me it is more difficult to work on a Baywindow instead of a Splitwindow, and on a Vanagoon there are much more difficult overlapping areas i see on the one i repaired.
yesterday i finally finished that f*** Driver side pillar...!!!
