I know many have repainted their fiberglass cladding to match the body color or with black. Has anyone found a spray paint that is close to the factory medium grey metallic color?

Here are a couple threads to read. I gave up due to the pandemic and went with a generic gray. Would still like to find the correct color as my front and rear are both different shades than the sides now.

Had mine digitally color-matched locally and they came up with Toyota (6M3) Greyish Green Met.-1. Used Krylon Satin Black on the black. Looks good to me.

This bumper color started out back in the 80s as a silver/grey metallic color. The trouble with color-matching is that as this particular paint aged it took on a slightly greenish hue. This now looks a bit odd on the vans that still have the original faded cladding as well as if you get an optical color match, the match will be to the faded greenish hue, not the original color.

If you can't find the original paint code for this, I'd use a VW color code and have them painted a Vanagon color like Flash Silver Metallic, Vesuve Grey Metallic, or if you like a darker charcoal greyish color then Wolfram Grey Metallic.

Alternatively, I find a satin black color looks great too and can be economically done at home with good prep and canned spray paint. U used Satin Canyon Black, Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X.

Cast iron grey engine paint works nicely, though I still think body color with black "impact strips" is a better approach.

The VW parts catalog stipulates Cloud Gray Metallic (LV7N).

That looks really nice!
I may shift gears here and seek some Toyota 6M3 touch up paint!

I'm looking to touch up or repaint my bumpers to factory colors. Has anyone else tried the Toyota paint code and found it a good match?

Just had our bumpers and cladding repaired and repainted. Although I provided the proper VW paint code (LV7N), the shop used this one which is just a bit darker than original. We actually like it better!
