Why can't they make one that fits?

Why do all have to have the bolts and body clearanced so the tin doesn't rub against the crank pulley?

Since your new here. Very Happy

A pic or two of what your dealing with may help us solve your issue.

I friggin hate clearancing the filter pumps.

As stated. Maybe a Mexican filter housing would be a better choice.

or just use a remote filter like everyone else lol.

what even hits with the filter pump covers? the cover itself or the filter? if its just the filter then this is a no brainer.

My guess? Since they seem like they were originally fitted to buggies that didn't run tins, and people keep buying them and modifying them to work in full tinned sedans, the companies that make them have no reason to change the molds.

I think on my CB Filter Pump, there was one cooling fin on the pump body I had to file down. Well, technically not the pump, more accurately the filter adapter.

The right side of the top cooling fin has to be trimmed flush so the pulley tin clears it.

Same in early 1980s with my Maxi2 from Claude's Buggies; when the casting was changed to CB Performance, same issue with that top fin.

Funny/sad Redline Weber still has same issues as 15 years ago on its adapters for carburetor for older Mazda trucks: the adapter plates are not flat, so user has to sand those flat before installing or risk big vacuum leaks.

Curious who make/sells that filter pump cover.

I have one similar that has the drive shaft protruding through the gear, into the filter cover. To keep it aligned. I assume. Is this the case with this pump cover?

Before anyone questions the above question. They're made that way!
It's not Fd up.

It's not the finished, once it finally cleared the tin, I cleaned it up so it's nice and pretty.

I’m in the same situation with my AA pump cover as you Glenn. How much meat is there in that section? If I take a file to it, how close is the internal passage? Mine came installed on a long block and I would like to avoid having to remove it.
