So what thickness gasket should be used with the needle seat? Looks like .060 but still not sure. The carb came with a .020. Also what is the correct float level measurement? My rebuild kit doesn't list this for the 30/31

Here's a page from the carb rebuild kit instructions from the Technical section.
I believe (someone can correct me here) the H30/31 carb should use the same inlet valve adjustment as as the 30Pict-3 carb listed above. That would mean using the 1.0mm + 0.5mm gaskets to create a 1.5mm gasket between the top of the carb and the inlet valve.
I believe for all Solex Pict carbs the proper fuel bowl level is 19mm (0.75 in) between the top edge of the fuel bowl (top of carb removed) and the fuel level in the bowl. Adding gaskets/spacers between the carb top and the inlet valve will cause the inlet valve to close sooner; lowering the fuel level. Removing spacers will raise the fuel level in the bowl.
Once you have the engine running, check this by revving the engine to get the fuel pump working at its max. Cut the engine w/o allowing it time to idle (at idle the fuel flow from the pump is less and the carb could change the fuel level in the bowl if left to idle). Remove the top of the carb and check the level of the fuel in the bowl. If the inlet valve and float are doing their job the level should be constant at 19mm/0.75 in.
If the fuel level is too high, check for excessive fuel pressure; bad inlet valve or bad float. If the level is too low, remove gaskets between the inlet valve and the top of the carb. _________________ AshMan40
