I am in the process of trying to make the air conditioner work on my 1990 2.1 Westy. Trying to sort some parts before I get into the project so that I have everything on hand the receiver dryer and O-rings. Does anybody have a good source for these?Any advice would also be helpful. Thank you

Any VW parts house has the Rec/drier most likely.

The issue of good A/C is far far far bigger than that though.

Can you make it work by installing a minimum of parts?

But how well does it work and for how long?

These systems are a minimum of 30 years old!

At that age a whole slew of problems have developed.
The old oil is probably goo.
You can't run r12 oil with r134a

I made a thread on my 1990 and making it work.

It is pulling down 40 at the evaporator and should work trouble free for years and years to come!

Granted, I'm out close to $1000 in parts, but I drive reliably cool.

Patch repairs are just that, temporary fixes that will fail or will work until the next failure occurs.
