66 Middle Seat

Is there supposed to be as much of an offset between the flipper seat frame and the main frame? I've looked at hundreds of photos on this site and while some frames don't quite line up, this one seems way off. My installer indicated that he could simply bend the piece to line up, but I want to make sure that bending it won't make things worse.
