Brady is a great quarterback but the game has been so wussified that he will bever measure up to the guys who DID get hit because the rules allowed it.
She did serve her team by giving the space to someone who was in better shape to perform, and that was a tough call to make, Im sure.
I was heartened by the high jump final today - the Qatar and Italian atheletes were both equal at 2.39 meters, and decided to take dual golds. _________________ .ssS! |

if you took that comment as insincere you'd be dead wrong. Everett does a great job on the site here so i was actually shocked he agreed with something i said.

Yeah....absolutely SO selfish of her to not compete, and let an alternate take home a silver medal instead. |
How wonderfully gracious of her!
So you’re saying that the rest of the team wasn’t depending on her to carry them to a gold medal? Do you really think that they will think so fondly of their chances at a gold medal being dashed by her “lack of selfishness”? Or was hers just not that important of a role that any other secondary could easily fill it & take the team to gold?
Selfish is backing out on the team, at the team competition, as the keystone of the team, & THEN going on to compete at the personal level.
At least she recovered quickly.
I am totally gonna have to use that whole “mental illness” excuse the next time I don’t wanna do something. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

A team doesn't depend on one person and who's to say if she did compete and because of her the teams scores were so low they didn't qualify for a medal ?
As for as your comment on mental illness EXCUSE, not going to get into details but my family deals with this everyday.
Its not a joke or an excuse for some people, until you have walked in someone's shoes that deals with head issues from time to time or daily your comment is just ridiculous and sad. _________________ F#CK CANCER

So now you’re just getting into the “what if’s” scenarios. But, what if she saw this as a real possibility & decided to opt out of team competition so that she didn’t put her self at risk so that she could “save herself” for her own competitions. Just sayin.

And there in lies the problem. By celebrating someone’s “strength in bringing to light mental illness.”, a defense that is beyond reproach, especially when their issue is miraculously absent when it comes to advancing themselves, not only makes a mockery of the issue, but it then becomes a loophole for those wanting to exploit it.
Besides, I would never use that excuse, if I don’t want to do something, I don’t fucking do it. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

I think you are taking the Mental Illness part out of context.
If a boxers head is not in it he/she is most likely going to get knocked out or get his/her ass beat down,
When a pitcher's head is not in it he's usually going to get shelled.
Imagine trying to do flips in the air when your not focused on the task .
I have 2 family members that pitch in the MLB and they are always talking to my son about how important it is to be mentally free of any distractions while hitting & pitching.
Why do you think a manager sits players for a couple games when they are slumping ?
Everybody gets mental blocks, some just worse than others.
She has committed her whole life to gymnastics and I think she has done pretty good so far. I don't think she's making excuses i think her head is not in it.
You would be surprised how many top athletes see a Physiatrists or therapist to keep their head straight.
What we should be talking about is how the Russians are in the Olympics when they were banned for doping but are competing under the ROC.. _________________ F#CK CANCER

So.
Simone worked her ass off to achieve everything she has achieved, and you think she should simply acquiesce to some random, dilettante couch potato's opinion because her life isn't as perfect as you feel it should be?
Seriously?

Holy shit, you're a dense fuck. You’re so intent on defending her honor you’re unable to comprehend what my position is. No where, in any of my posts, have I said that she hasn’t worked her ass off, that she didn’t earn everything that she has or accomplished, or that she should give a flying fuck about what I, or anyone else says or thinks about her.
All I said was that she should not be celebrated as “being strong” when backing out of team competition, especially when she went on to compete in events that were for her own benefit, just because she gave an excuse that cannot be questioned.
Furthermore, my initial gripe had nothing to do with her, but with all of the other sports figures & Hollywood twits & twats that constantly interject their opinions when given the mic.
Best fucking Golden Globes EVER.

You can back out for individual sport is fine w/ me. But teamsports, you better hang in there until they carry you out.
Biles needed a safe-space for her 'mental illness'? She abandoned her team, plain and simple. If she did not want to represent this country, she should have stayed home and let someone else take that spot. Someone more willing was bumped off for her and then she backs out after she gets there?? SMH.
It is obvious what this is all about - let us not pretend we don't know. The American flag offends her. |
