I am seeing more and more threads with damaged Alternator supports.
Most recently this one......

I've installed GoWesty's upper support bracket, but am now worrying that I should do more.
I see they now offer a lower bracket to the right head coolant pipe nipple, but as part of a "kit" with the bracket I already have.
I've read that GoWesty's upper bracket has also experienced failures.
I saw this post by Wildthings which I've quoted below.
In all my years of reading threads, I've not seen this simple bracket between the P/S bracket and the Alternator pivot.
Is it really that simple?
I'm thinking an offset bend is needed.
Anyone have a sketch or more details?
Yes, I can stumble through and fab one up, but it is so much easier to follow the already blazed trail if there is one.

If you have the power steering mounting brack as per the photo make yourself a link as shown below as it greatly stabilizes the loaded end of the alternator pivot bolt.
The mounting hardware was originally standard 8.8 strength M8 hardware, though you might have something different at this point. Stepped studs would be an option. |

No sketch or measurements, I suspect that the distance between the holes varies slightly from one engine to another so should be customized to the vehicle it is going on. Yes an offset bend is necessary. |
