Hey all! I've been lurking in this group for some time but haven't posted much, if at all.

I did a thread search but did not see an official, "show us your Vanagon paint job" topic. My apologies if it already exists and this is a duplicate. Please link to the other thread if so...

We are considering a respray on our beloved van at some point and just wanted to see what people have done for colors and such. Please post your paint color or code with the images if possible.

I'll start with one of the latest pictures of our van, in her natural skin... 1990 Westfalia Vanagon GL, auto trans, Pastel White.

Thanks in advance for the contribution!

Don't have the code but the PO did a repaint. Not the exact same white but close enough and a pretty good job too!

Roll-and-tip with Interlux Brightsides.

It ain't showroom but any stretch of the imagination, but it looks way better than it did, cost was relatively low, has proven durable, and I could do it in my carport without building a paint booth to stop overspray from going on my house, neighbors. Looks good enough that when I asked my wife "you know what the best thing we've done to the van is?" she immediately said "the paint!" which was not my answer.

Not mine but belongs to a friend. Paint is a Subaru color from 2017. It looks white in this picture but is a desert khaki color.

My '88 Westfalia 3-Tone. It was not intended to be that way but:
1. the shop that did my restoration in 2009 claimed they couldn't find the original VW colour code, so used some other brand, the colour turned out very close,
2. another shop that did some rust repair 2020 on the lower panels couldn't find the code for the 2009 repair, so tried to match it, hence the different blue below the crease, (the same on both sides)
3. then, the same shop suggested a bed liner protective paint for the very bottom section, claiming it would be the same blue!

I agreed, and was surprised at the difference of the bed liner.

However, all in all I am pleased with the look, and it will be easy to identify if it is ever stolen. (fingers crossed it never happens.)

I never considered anything other than the original color [Ivory / Elfenbein]:

I like it but also that decision simplifies repairs. A portion of that side is original, a portion was resprayed 23 years ago and a portion was resprayed 2 years ago. Very hard to tell where one ends and another begins.

The other side and rear gate are all original paint:

Keep us updated! Silver is one of the colors I've been thinking of. Would like to see this when completed and put back together too.

Here is a better picture of our van's Pastel White. I go back and forth on switching to a hue of silver or staying Pastel White...

P.S. Nothing wrong with Pastel White... I like it. You could always jazz it up with pinstripes or graphics. Smile
