The big 4 van parts sellers (GoWesty, Bus Depot, etc) are all back-ordered on the hatch latch extender for Vanagons. Mine seems to have taken a walk during the past year-and-a-half of Pandemania, so I need a replacement. If anyone knows of a source that I’ve missed please let me know. |

And this is an option
Smaller form factor
Secure - can't be unscrewed
Less $
5/16 IIRC....1/4 will slip over the body side latch
Eventually I'm thinking a piece of heat shrink tubing to cover the threas
I can make one for you but shipping will be more than the part....check out your local True Value/Ace

the PDXWesty turnbuckle above is what I have used for a few of mine now. To secure it, a few good whacks with a hammer on the ends (peen hammer above and below, to get into the ditch) and then the mangled threads won't allow the full removal of that device by unscrewing it. It is really good to have the ability to change the gap for a variety of temps. Epoxy would also get the job done. _________________ '87 Westy 'Flossie','86 Westy 'R1','86 tintop GL - Subi2.2 'J2','83.5 stock tintop L 'ZoomBus','74 Karmann Ghia, '63 Notch |

Did you do the bends 'cold', or did you use a torch to soften the spots where you did the 90 degree bends? |
