I have a problem with my 1977 fuel injected camper. It has only 29.000 miles on the clock, but lately it started to run irregularly and after a while it started to backfire and it was so severe, that the exhaust exploded. I believe somehow that some gasoline gets into the exhaust system, but I can not imagine, why it does. Can it be a malfunction injector or pressure regulator? Or more likely another thing? Please, help/advice needed. Best regards Henrik. Email:

Sounds more like an intermittent spark problem from here. When was the last tune up?, and how old are the plug wires, plugs, and cap and rotor? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
Please don't PM technical questions, ask your problem in public so everyone can play along. If you think it's too stupid post it here

Really I don't know. Could be the original one, so maybe 40+ years. |

How's your milage? If it's getting worse you could have an injector sticking open. A look at your plugs should tell you if thats the case. But yeah, 40+ year old plug wires can't be helping, that sounds like the place to start. |
