Higher spring pressure adds heat due to increased friction between the cam and lifter. Heat is your enemy especially in a bus engine.

I would rethink your spring requirements, perhaps consider some beehive springs instead.

I fully agree with keeping with the stock 1.1:1 rockers. There is no need to lift the smaller valves higher than what the 1:1:1 rockers will. Definitely buy some quality elephant foot adjusters and top quality bolt together rocker shafts that are correctly shimmed for rocker side clearance.

Should be a reliable engine with plenty of power for your bus.

This is a daily driver bus and I am trying to get quiet low end power.

One more question - if I use dual springs in the heads, but stick with 1.1 rockers, is it much extra wear on the valve train over just having single springs?

if its a daily driver, just stick with the stock rockers for sure. They're incredibly high quality and when back-cut for/with elephant feet, they're perfect for a real world street engine.

I would definitely reconsider the duals, although they won't necessarily cause harm quickly

if you want something slightly "more" than standard singles, these Isky's are an option

On my 37x33 1968cc, 1.1:1, web 218 engines, I just use good quality single springs. Scat makes some good ones. I would stay away from the cheaper CB stuff.

Just call up Steve and Greg and ask them to build the heads with their best and favorite single springs.

Yes. Scats installed on about 1,44-1,45" works very well.

Ok, getting ready for some Carb fun on my Weber 40 IDFs…

First the 1.3s tomorrow leaving all else the same.

Then in a month, the 32 vents with 1.45.

I was sent 3 Bosch W8CCs and one WR8AC - one cylinder would be very disappointed…

Um, It takes four jets to swap out when jetting two IDF carbs.
4 Main jets.
4 Idle jets.
4 air correction jets.

EDIT: Also one of those plug is the short thread reach type. It won't work very long up inside spark threaded hole.

Yup - I have 2 more 1.3s and two more 1.45s arriving soon (hopefully today). JBugs is sending me the mismatched spark plug (I had ordered 4 matching W8CCs but that isn’t what arrived.

Just got my AA 92 thick walls today, so things are shaping up…

Finally finished this project which consisted of:

1. Upgrade 90.5 pistons to 92 thick walls
2. Upgrade to Tims SuperStock Ported and Polished heads dual springs 37/32
3. Upgrade Weber IDF Duals to 32 Venturi and 1.45 main jets
4. Upgrade fuel lines and fuel filter to steel braided 6an
5. Upgrade filler stand
6. Upgrade both pulleys (shim and align)
7. Fix 15 gal tank air vent (curved tube extended 2-3 inches down in tank)
8. Fix oil leak at deep sump gasket
9. Upgrade to 1.25 ratio rockers
10. Upgrade to chrome SCAT valve covers for ratio rocker clearance
11. Change oil and oil filter
12. Check oil cooler for leaks and re-seal
13. Upgrade dual carb Linkage to use top extension springs
14. Use roller throttle tube from Joe Bence
15. Replace throttle Bowden tube
16. Replace kinked throttle cable
17. Use one piece metal fresh air hoses from doghouse to heater box
18. Check main seal behind flywheel for oil leak (there was none)
19. 4 copper crush gaskets on head ports
20. Felt gaskets on intake manifold with permeated aviation
21. Remflex cutout thick gaskets on all other exhaust connections

(I ended up with a CB Performance 7” pulley, not the 6 3/4 pulley in the first few images. I thought 6 3/4 was stock, but I had a 7”)

Here are the photos - deck height 0.056
