I recently renovated the back of my Eurovan and was wondering if anyone has removed the back portion of the pop top bed. The front piece is easily removable but I've noticed that the back piece (closest to the trunk) is screwed into the frame with a metal crosspiece at the front. Does anyone know if this is for stability reasons? Or could I just cut it out and have no issues? The bed I built back there is quite high so I'd like a little more head room when getting in and out.

Cheers!

I believe that back piece is structural... I think Cole from cavevan said he drive a van around without it one and it didn't feel right
