New here, and new to Vanagon.
Purchased an 83 Vanagon L that had a westfalia rear seat floating around in the back. The Z seat appears to have all the stock mounting hardware but I don't see any mounting points / holes for it inside the van. What's the best route to attach it without drilling unnecessary holes in the floor / walls?
Also where's the best place to find the engine rear cushion to complete the sleeper? |

Welcome! If that's not a Westy to begin with you'll probably need to drill mounting holes for a Westy seat.
Check the classifieds for a pad.
*edit*
Here's one, but for the price + freight you can probably make one.

Post pics of the seat you have and describe your car. What year, etc. |

duncan 1500+ posts can be one of your best resources, Dave 27000 posts says it could have many variations.... you say no mounting holes which is curious.
not knowing the history of your van you may have all sorts of combinations of stuffs.
pictures can be worth a thousand words if they happen to be the right word and hundreds of thousands words if the wrong words
the"upload a photo to the gallery" right below to where you enter a reply is very easy. there is even a "how to post photos" link right there too _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

When I said which year and so on, I meant the differences in the era where the seat mounts. And photos of the seat as it seems it isn't original to your car. The best help will be of the inner tin with the panels removed so we can see what mounting holes--if any, might be there. Also pull up the floor mats and take photos of any mounting holes that might be there as well. |

Now I know the secret to how in 9 months you were able to rebuild the engine, AC and countless other tasks including using the car for work.
It's simple, you never sleep. |

Yeah, I'm at the age where I have a hard time getting through a movie after dinner sitting on the couch. |

I have a photo of the Westfalia seat tag I’ll try to upload later. I’ve ripped out the interior, The Vanagon doesn’t have the same mounts in the floor as the seat. |

A photo of the seat hinges will be the best guide for us. |
