1984 Vanagon.
Occasionally my shifter goes into limbo when I come to a stop. It MIGHT be happening when im on an uphill grade. But I may be imagining that.
It's not "in" gear - but the shifter has a hard feel to it, and feels "stuck".
I'm typically in traffic so I'm panicking to get it working so I dont recall the exact steps. I just know with enough fidgeting it works again. One example: If I dump the clutch to stall it, then start the engine the shifter mysteriously seems to work again.
Any thoughts on this problem and how to fix? _________________ Peter Gariepy

Could be any number of things (or a combo)
1. Shifter box worn
2. Linkage bushings worn
3. Bad motor mount
4. Something internal ...
Someone familiar with the WBXer Transmission will chime in _________________ '84 Vanagon Tin-top, ALH TDI. 1989 Tin-top
