Thought I would add another 66 deluxe to keep the theme going. Bus is now in the assembly stage so lots of photos, I will be using a lot of NOS parts collected over the 30 years I have owned this bus.

some more pics of the progress- NOS RHD floor was used for footwell repair.

Note the pressing in the original rear battery tray - each circular depression a little deeper till the drain hole to allow drainage- the repro tray had a single non draining cosmetic pressing- so what to do? - well graft the original into the repro tray!

colour scheme- aero pspyrus/sea blue cumulus white. Will be keeping it original- as much of the original interior is too good not to use

As a long term owner of this bus I have been collecting nos parts sinde I bought it. Soon- no longer to be NOS- VW black dot deluxe headliner

also one NOS steel grab handle, the other restored and painted with the original used for colour match (also have the rear seat grabs and parcel tray matched) Used SEM vinyl paint with the recommended adhesion promoter etc.

14" wheel trims, and NOS door rubbers all round!

front beam rebuilt- new bearings, pins bushes /NOS. As stated earlier I have collected parts for this build since I bought the bus- in 1990, long before the internet when swap meets and friends were how you found stuff! To add a bit of colour- the bus, a RHD was brought to Australia when its owner emigrated. I have the shipping documents etc. This explains some of the rare (in Australia anyway) features- aero papyrus upholstery and factory safaris.
