56 model year vin

My body vin is dec 55, the vin plate and chassis vin match and are the right range for dec 55 but don't have the 1- prefix

Is this common?

On 30 Dec 55, chassis 1 - 1 060 120 they dropped the -1-
Progressive Refinements p G-5

the samba table has 1-1060 929 as the last chassis for dec 55...
so looks like there's some leeway there - assuming info correct

Ok, that fits. My serial number is 1080309, after the drop and before ¹ Jan 56

yes it often causes confusion, but the number for January 56 is the last one recorded on the last day of the month. so your car is a jan 56

In January, with the dismission of 1- change the shape of the vin number place right? Before December the vin number is in a pressed rectangular shape, after is smooth?
