Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day. After being separated for many months, the pan and body are going to be re-united. I just installed the German pan seal tonight, using 3M Super Black and original style upholstery tacks (which no one will ever see, but I'll know they're there just like when the car rolled off the assembly line). I still need to cut holes in the seal for the body mount bolts, but I'll do that in the morning before the tow arrives

Congrats, it’s a huge step. I was planning on reuniting mine today but I chopped off the tip of my finger cutting kohlrabi. Look forward to pictures. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Some final shots of the chassis by itself. Could be the last time, or at least for hopefully a very long time, that this chassis is body-less

Back home
And now the fun begins. I have a feeling I'm going to start digging through the boxes of parts I took off the car, and very little is going to pass the test to go back on. The hardware in particular. Is there an actual list of nut, bolt, and screw sizes for everything, or do most people just use whatever fits?

This is moving along nicely. Putting the body and pan back together would certainly make me a nervous wreck, especially with this beautiful paint job. Great work. Looks amazing. Anxious to see it all back together. _________________ Marc

I try to use all original hardware, I just clean it up on the wire wheel on my grinder and paint it if it’s supposed to be painted. There’s not much of it and not much variety. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I don't think they got this much care and attention at the factory. Nice work! This is where the marathon enters the stadium and the finish line is in sight

I can only speak for myself... I had bags of nuts and bolts that I reused after cleaning them up as best I could. I lost a bunch when I had them acid dipped and learned the hard way that the acid ruins them. The best method I've since learned is to thoroughly degrease them and send them away to get "blacked" again.

I hadn't replaced these 60-69 tail light seals before, and man they are a bit of a wrestling match to get them fitted on the lens.
I'm sure some of y'all know this, but I discovered that the best order of op for these is: seal onto lens, lens onto lighting housing, then the entire assembly onto the car.
I had initially put the lighting housing onto the car first, before installing the lens with seal, and I couldn't get the seal to fit flush against the body that way. But installing the lens onto the lighting housing before it all goes onto the body, everything fit flush and perfect.

Will you still drill through the new paint and the body filler to open up the two M6 holes for the rear bumper overrider struts? You can barely see the hole locations in this photo- |

Nope, I ended up having them closed up the correct way, no filler. I'm installing Euro bumpers. I'm not a fan of how the US overriders look. _________________ Currently own:

OK. I saw a later photo while at the body shop with a skim of filler over the hole area, which was my clue that it was filled that way. Euro bumpers will look good against the blue color. |

It was an oversight on my part. There was so much focus on the front of the car with the nose swap, that I completely forgot about having those holes deleted when I gave them the go ahead to move on from the metalwork. Caught it at the last minute _________________ Currently own:

Does anyone know what the size and thread pitch of the mounting nuts are for Blaupunkt radios? Are they the same size as for Sapphire radios?
My Blaupunkt didn't come with any. There's some people in the classifieds selling mounting nuts for Sapphires. Was curious if they're the same or not. _________________ Currently own:
