I've got an 1800cc engine for my dune buggy. Can someone tell me the ideal transmission for this size of an engine?
I've busted the gears in a couple of small swing axle trannys and I'm assuming it's because I need a tougher tranny used in a vw bus? |

Your question is too vague to give a realistic answer, A stock swing with a super diff might be all you need as a 2-d Mendi might also be all you need. Kinda like asking"how much does a bag of groceries cost?" _________________ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people,

Ok, what details do you need to answer the question?
Or is there some documentation you can point me to that explains what transmissions match with what motors? |

Some guys can make a stock used trans last for years in a bus with a 2332cc.
Some guys can break a built trans with a 3/4 worn out 1600cc.

might help if you describe where and how you use it any frequent flyer miles or wheelies or drive like a motocross bike? what terrain are you driving. how hard you use it, ho long you use it. after you broke the first one what did you do do to the second one before you broke it? have you checked your tranny and engine mounts when you replaced the second tranny? lots of open questions. Have you talked to any tranny specialists for insite on what broke and why? |

The rule of thumb back in the day was that a stock Beetle transaxle was good to 150 HP but Dad's neighbor broke his early Bus transaxle in a light Buggy in half right over the diff with a stock 40 HP engine. That's the bellhousing I use now for an engine test stand. _________________ We had the stone age, the bronze age, the industrial age and now we are in the age of mass deception and mind control for corporate profit.
