The plastic thing is a terminal connector and you can clean them up in vinegar soak.

Goodspeed Motoring and WW sell new ones

Hey Jim,
You're going to have to pull the wires to clean everything up. The original plastic covers are hardy and pliable. Label and pull spade connectors, wash the plastic cover with soap & water and if it still needs it, soak the plastic cover in vinegar checking every 30min till the internal corrosion is gone, q-tip will help. Dry it all off, clean up the spade connectors with a wire brush or a wire wheel on a dremel/rotary tool, apply some dielectric grease to hamper further corrosion, and plug it all back together.
Cheers!
Mike

Just a note, us something like NoOx or Penetrox electrical corrosion resistant compound made to conduct, or not impede current... not dielectric grease! NoOx is specifically made for electrical connections, unlike dielectric that is for spark plug boots... to prevent current transfer and is often misused. BTW I soaked all of my terminals etc in Ospho, rinsed and then the compound. The connections on my '75s harness were a mess... but not anymore

A small screwdriver or pick can be used to release the metal connector from the plastic cover.

Thanks guys , will get on it this weekend , engine bay is degreased and washed. Fyi: The link for the company that was making them is outa stk and looks like permanently.
Engine bay need a freshen up it’s had some hard times . Wiring’s getting re wrapped and better located as well as much has changed over the years. Paint has much damage and will re spray as needed , also going to install some led illumination so at evening drags will make inspection a tad easier.

I don't know if this tip will help but years ago I saw a documentary where they used Hydrogen Peroxide to remove the yellow oxidation layer from plastic computer parts. It was a "cleans on contact" process. Wherever the peroxide touched the plastic, the white-ish original color would return.
