Hi all,

I sold my 65' last year, I had her for almost 8 years, it was time. I am looking at new projects, I've seen a few I like, and I like them a little on the crunchy side.

I've done a lot of restoration work and welding, some on the frame, such as a steering box raise on my last one. But when it comes with rusted/ holey area in the frame and frame repair, is this something that should be yellow or red flagged for serious pros, or potential for safety?

Thanks peeps!

Phillip

Depends on the work you want to put into it really. Rust around the front beam is the hardest to repair than anywhere else in the frame. Rust on the rest is a pretty straight forward fix even around the rear torsion. But dealing around the beam you have more issues to deal with. The inner liners that extend up to the wheel well tubs, tool chest, and keeping it square doing that area. All fixable but more time consuming.

Thanks! I figured some areas are easier to replace. Based on curves, or ease of access. I'll keep a special eye out to the front end and beam area. And frame where the engine and trans mount.

It is more of something that should be flagged for financial issues. Anything can be fixed, and the crunchier it is, the more expensive it gets. The cheapest ones to buy are usually among the more expensive ones to own. The good thing is that you will have less competition when you go to buy one.
