A lot of that surface rust can be treated with a product called CLR massaged into the surface with 0000 steel wool or a Scotch Brite pad.

CLR:

Here's sloans265 side by side CLR comparison:

And here is Skim's CLR work:

Search for patina paint threads on these forums and there is some great information.

nice results, but I want to keep patina - surface rust
I consider faded dove blue / surface rust best two tone bus combination Wink

I just want to inhibit rust on worst places like rear lower corners
and just conservate it somehow without impacting OG paint

If the rust is soaked in oil, it won't really rust anymore. There are commercial products like waxoyl. These can be used to coat the unseen areas. Any wax or oil coating on the outside will change the appearance of your paint to some degree.

Of course there is rust on the backside of every panel in every bus just slowly working it's way through the metal.

Collinite 476 Auto Wax scores high marks for patina rides in the UK
After reading reviews, I opted for this for my ‘56 Karmann Ghia (not yet applied)

For protection, You could try Fluid Film. It is lanolin based, and seals with a penetrating, water repellant film. As Lind says, these types of products will darken the appearance of the paint.

Fluid Film is some awesome stuff. You could also used some boiled linseed oil, but it probably will not last as long as the FF.

Whatever you use please don't spray with clear coat. It looks like $hit and ruins the OG paint IMO.

This has to be one of the best preserved barndoors on the planet, just beautiful.

I will just wax most of paint ..
sadly not many survived in mostly original paint
this one had accident on driver side where 1/2 paint not original
rest of car is OG factory paint luckily because of accident not much rust
because it was in traffic for only 10 years cca

here you can see "quality" of factory paint job
drops of paint visible on top of engine compartment and below front lower nose line
