Now what do I do if anything about some kind of warranty

It's not the engine builders fault the pump failed

I find it highly unlikely that schadek is going to do anything

I'm probably SOL with expecting anything to go my way in that regard

Found the culprit

Oil pump failure, the gear spins on the shaft with low resistance

Any indicate that something jammed the pump gears?

For a brand new pump, that had a lot of shit go through it.

Not sure it was mentioned before, but what weight oil? Was it really cold outside when you drove it?

Can you post a picture of the end of the drive gear where the shaft is pressed in? The end opposite the drive tang. Just wondering if he pressed it out a ways to fit the cam face better.

Do you really need a 30mm pump?

Truth. Those bigger divots have matching gouges in the pump body.

Very strange for a filtered engine.

So, did the gear spin on the shaft because it was loose to begin with, or because the pump gears were bound up trying to force some grit through the pump?
Is there any trace of whatever chunks caused that damage inside the hose between the pump and the filter? I'm curious as to what it is

20/50 vr1

Not too many cold days here in phx

Just shiny specs "bearing material "

Motor build chose pump size

20/50 still seems pretty heavy for a fresh engine. I would expect something like 10/30 or 10/40. Especially if the parts were in tolerance ranges required.

Do you happen to know if the case or any internal parts were media blasted? Maybe some grit was left behind and made its way into the pump, could explain the matching gouges/nicks in the teeth and body.

The case had not been blasted

Or the case just wasn't clean enough to begin with. Swarf in the passages. Could have weakened the pump at that time and just took a while to let go.

Tempting to say the pump failure killed the bearings. But if the pump failure killed the bearings, the bearing debris could not have killed the pump. But debris from some other source could have killed the pump.

So yeah, possible some junk hid in the engine somewhere and it took 6k miles to get loose. Possible.

I question how good a job your builder did. Your pump damage wasn't caused by the bearing debris.
