I've had bad luck with deck lid scripts/emblems, I broke the one that was on my Ghia just by washing it, so I bought a new one and broke it trying to roll my car cover off from the rear. The "tail" of the G seems to be the weak link and it just snaps off. It must happen a lot 'cause I saw 3 or 4 of them with broken G's on eBay. So I was gonna just buy another one when I saw a listing for a stainless steel one on eBay from Turkey. I was a little leery about getting one from Turkey, but it got here really fast, like 3 days. It's clearly different than the normal ones, but it's also about 25% thicker, so maybe the G won't snap off. Also, it has threaded studs with nuts and washers to securely attach it, the normal style just has pins and the things they sell to attach them don't even work, so I had to mickey mouse it. You probably wouldn't want to get one for a concourse Ghia, but for a beater like mine, it's fine. The only issue I had was that the holes in mine needed to be reamed out a skosh, but my car has been painted several times over the years. The first pic is the new SS one (not really a great picture, it really looks better), the last is the normal one.

I got mine tight with stock 'clamps'. While pushing down on the script real hard I pushed up under the lid real hard with a deep socket that fit over the 'stud' but not the clamp. Got it goodentite Cool

I ordered the stock "clamps", but the ID was larger than the pins and there was no way they could hold it on. Maybe the normal script I bought had smaller pins than the stock ones, but I did get it from a Karmann Ghia parts house. The spring claims I engineered held it on tight, but that G tail is still very sensitive. I was careful when I washed it, but the cover just snagged it a little and it just snapped off. I'm sure any Ghia guy will notice the difference, but when you're at a cruise in and the mom says "What's that?" and the dad walks around back and proclaims "It's a Karmann Gee-ah" like he knew along before he read the script, they'll never know the difference, lol...

Hmm, I didn't see another one listed, but it could be because there's a message on my item that says the seller is away until 11-20. The seller is vintagecarparts and this is the link to the one I got...I just noticed that the seller is tirepaws, I think the store is vintagecarparts...

You can use Dura collars to hold the trim on. I would put a little anti seize on the set screw so that you can easily remove it in the future. These also work great for the nose badge and side emblem. Here is a link to what I am talking about:
