Our ‘90 Carat has a small transmission leak making a mess on our pristine garage floor! We recently had the transmission filter and cover gasket replaced (along with some of the ATF), but that was not the cause. Wondering how/where to add ATF when it becomes necessary. And yes, I know Dexron is the proper replacement fluid.

Drive the van to operating temps first.

Open the engine compartment up with the van idling at full temperature, level parking spot. There’s a yellow dipstick at about 1100. Check that. If it’s low add small amount of atf through the dipstick tube. Have a funnel ready. Again, small amount at a time check add more if needed. All while idling at full temp, level ground is important.
